The ship, devoid of traditional torpedo armament, was planned to be used as a delivery vehicle for combat divers. “Nuclear deep-water station of the 1st rank” (this is how the nuclear submarine of the “1910 Kashalot” project is classified in the Navy).The nuclear submarine is equipped with a power plant with a nominal capacity of 10,000 liters. from. with one reactor.Until 1986, the 1910 Sperm whale nuclear submarines were not included in the Navy, while they were conquering the depths of the sea with might and main. The submarines were listed under a separate division of the General Staff, which worked in the interests of the Main Intelligence Directorate. In 1986, the ships entered the Navy only indirectly. The fleet was entrusted with only individual support issues, while control was still carried out directly from Moscow. It is also known that all three nuclear deep-water stations are based in the Northern Fleet. They were brought together to the submarine brigade, which is organizationally part of one of the Northern Fleet’s flotillas.
