RND ENGINES Roller Bearing Porsche IMS Intermediate Shaft Update Kit 106-08.2R. Fits 2000 through 2005 Porsche Boxster and 911 models with the factory single row bearing. THE ONLY IMS ROLLER BEARING REPLACEMENT KIT WITH TRUE THRUST CONTROL. Cylindrical roller bearings provide great lateral load capacity, sacrificing their maximum load cap in thrust (axial movement). That’s why precise thrust control is crucial for bearing’s longevity and reliability. RND Roller Bearing IMS Retrofit kit is the only solution on the market that uses proper heat treated, 52100 bearing steel thrust surfaces on both sides. The RND RS Roller IMS Bearing Replacement has a recommended service interval 6 years or 75,000 miles, whichever comes first. WHY DO IMS BEARINGS FAIL? Lack of lubrication (sealed bearing was used) Insufficient load capacity (factory single row bearing had high failure rate of 8% according to the Eisen class action lawsuit) The factory did not supply a service interval, replacement, or tools for changing the original bearing out – bearing should have had a service interval! IMS RETROFIT AS A PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE: IMS replacement takes an average of 10-14 hours. Typically coupled with clutch and other maintenance. If the engine in your car has been replaced, it will have whatever IMS bearing was in production for that model year of manufacture for the replacement engine.
