Product Description: Listing Update…This is not so much an update as it is a brief comment about the computers and related parts I have available for sale. Personal computers (and in particular desktop computers) have always been a hobby of mine. I’ve enjoyed tinkering with this stuff over the years and have accumulated a number of items during this time…some new and some used. I am not an expert on the subject…more of an enthusiast…but I will still do my best to answer any questions as it relates to my computer related listings. Thank you. Original Listing… This offering is for a used DELL 290 watt (non-modular) power supply. As mentioned in the listing title, this is a used offering pulled from a working OptiPlex Mini Tower computer (Model 3020, 7020 or 9020). I purchase some of these mini towers for customers that want a low budget computer capable of doing some gaming. As a result, I usually upgrade the power supply before I install a discrete graphics card. These power supplies are fine if the discrete graphics card will draw all of it’s power from the PCIe slot (like many of the GTX 1050 Ti models, etc.). Although, any graphics card that requires additional power from a PCIe cable (i.e., a 6-pin, 8-pin, or any combination of the two) will require an upgrade over this power supply. The reasons are really twofold. First, the 290 watt max rating is not leaving much room for even a lower powered graphics cards that only require a PCIe 6-pin connector. Second, this power supply does not have a PCIe cable/connector. I don’t mean to dissuade anyone from purchasing one of these power supplies, but please do keep in mind it’s limited use case. I should probably also mention the dimensions of this power supply. A standard ATX (form factor) power supply will measure 150 mm (W) x 86 mm (H) x 140+ mm (D). Just to confirm the latter depth (D) measurement can vary somewhat, but will usually be at least 140 mm. As for this particular offering, the dimensions are 150 mm (W) x 86 mm (H) x 140 mm (D). So the dimensions for this power supply are consistent with the ATX form factor. Although, before considering this power supply for computers other than an OptiPlex Mini Tower, please keep in mind the proprietary cables/connectors (discussed below). I realize the pictures make it difficult to determine the exact number of cables and connectors coming out of this power supply, so let me highlight them here. There is a proprietary main board 8-pin cable/connector and a 4-pin EPS/CPU cable/connector. These are the two cables that come directly out of this power supply. Note: There is another cable included that plugs directly into a 5-pin connector on one of these OptiPlex Mini Tower (Model 3020, 7020 or 9020) motherboards, and this cable provides the additional connectors needed to power internal components/peripherals. This cable (that draws it’s power from the motherboard connection) is usually not included with these power supplies, but I want to be clear that I am including it here. It’s essentially a SATA power cable (with four 15-pin connectors to power SSDs, HDDs, etc.) and is included in the pictures above. As I mentioned above, this is a used power supply that was pulled from a working Dell OptiPlex Mini Tower computer (due to a customer wanting to upgrade to a larger power supply). This power supply was tested before it was removed and works fine. It’s also fairly clean, with no dents or major scuffs/scratches. You may visit our store by clicking on this “Store Home Page” link. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable…so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable…so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case. Note to international customers regarding customs… We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs’ laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery.
