Atari 2600 Rear Difficulty Switch – x3 Spare Replacements – Vader Edition *White switches are also available upon request if you feel like changing things up a bit on your console!* – Selling at a VERY low price to get some sales started… grab yours on the cheap today before the price gets bumped up by a couple bucks! – These are very easy to install by doing VERY basic desoldering and soldering work. – You get x3 NEW plastic switches for use in the Atari 2600 Vader Edition console. You will likely only need one but the others are useful to have as spares. You could also give them to a friend or sell em to someone who might need it. – It might work for other broken switches/consoles out there but they have only been tested and confirmed to work so far with the Atari 2600 Vader console's back difficulty switch (it was the left one when looking at the console normally from the front). – It looks like it should work for replacing ANY of the little black switches on the back, but I am not 100% sure, so you are own your own if you purchase this for something other than the difficulty switches. – If you DO order this and try it in another spot or on another version of the Atari or something anyways and it happens to work for you, please let me know so I can update the listing and mention that it is compatible as well. – Some of the items in the photos are for demonstration/assembly purposes; what you are buying is x3 of the plastic piece that you see in the first photo. – You must KEEP your old broken switch (dont throw it away before you get this new part) that you intend to replace/repair and use THIS plastic replacement piece to place inside of your old housing with the original parts. There is no need to buy a complete new/full switch that includes the housing since it is more expensive and likely harder to find… especially when your old one is perfectly fine still (besides currently having its original plastic part broken, but thats what THIS is for ofc!). – The design of the original Atari part had a thin part and a thick part on the switch “peg/arm”. That is likely why they can break fairly easily. To try to fix that issue this replacement is a bit thinner looking than the original because it is all one thickness, but it hopefully should be stronger that way due to how the plastic is formed when it is being made. My switch feels nice and strong with no signs of weakening and I have used it many times now without any issues! 🙂 – INSTRUCTIONS: (The pictures can help you to understand, it is acutally really easy to replace this part). First of all, be careful not to lose the little metal slider, the spring or the ballbearing when you do the next steps. 1. Desolder your switch with the broken plastic switch. 2. Pry the four metal tabs on the “bottom” of it into their “open” positions so that you may pull up on the three metal legs to lift out the little brown board that is connected to them. You will see the little metal slider part you do not want to lose or drop, it is what makes the switch work. 3. Remove the broken plastic part (with the help of a small flathead screwdriver if needed) BUT BE CAREFUL… because there is a ballbearing and a spring that you need to keep to use that is currently inside the broken plastic peice and pinched against the metal housing. (Just take your time and work carefully and you should have no problems though, I didn't have any problems but just wanted to be extra cautious so people dont lose anything and then have to go searching for more parts.) 4. Put the spring into your new plastic replacement part (MIGHT need to use something like a bamboo q-tip or the inside of a bic pen or something to shove the spring in). 5. Sit the ballbearing on top of the spring/hole and press it in as best you can with your thumb. 6. Carefully slide the new plastic switch into the metal housing (might have to do it with the ballbearing facing “up” to keep it in the right position while sliding it in). 7. Put the brown board with the legs back in and put the four metal tabs you originally moved into the “open” position in step 2 into their “closed” positions so that the brown board is tightly secured. You Now Have your FIXED switch! 8. Take your newly fixed switch (Good job! Pretty easy eh?!) and solder it back into your Atari 2600. 9.
