2005 Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop Historic 1959 ’59 Reissue Custom Authentic Aged EXC 2005 Les Paul Historic 1959 R9 Custom Shop Reissue #9 50xx with the rare “Custom Authentic” package. The CA package was basically a Murphy build (Murphy lacquer, Murphy colors and aged Murphy hardware) except without the artificial finish (razor blade) checking. This was an upcharge over gloss and was replaced in 2006 by the VOS option (VOS is actually discounted vs gloss). Very vintage authentic figured Eastern Maple top with faded cherry sunburst finish and desirable Madagascar Rosewood fretboard. Madagascar Rosewood is now listed on both the CITES Appendix II and IUCN Red List. Finish is very thin and hard and not soft or sticky feeling, and has nicely shrunk and sunken into the pores of the wood like an old finish does. Weight is 9.1lbs. Near mint condition with only the slightest sign of handling. Essentially unplayed from a private collection. Guitar has been in storage for the past ~15 years with the strings and truss rod tension relaxed. Nut slot is evenly spaced and probably not quite slotted deeply enough, but the new owner can have it final slotted to preference. Neck is straight. No fretwear or playability issues. This guitar looks, feels and sounds like a much older guitar. This one is a player’s dream; it has “the” tone. It is simply an exceptional instrument that will please even the most discerning player or collector. Everything* is included as shown and described including: 2005 Custom Authentic Historic Les Paul 1959 #9 50xx Lifton reissue case with key COA and care pack (including hang tags) as shown *Note: leather strap shown is not included. Photos were taken indoors in ambient light with the exception of two angled photos of the top (flash used) with an inexpensive digital camera.
