I have to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. Modelcollect is a relative newcomer to the model world but has established a fabulous reputation for innovation and quality. They initially produced some small scale finished models and later branched out into kits and larger scales. Some of their most popular (and my favorite) kits are their 1/72 B-52 and B-2 strategic bombers. They have armed them with a full complement of Air Launched Cruise Missiles (ALCMs) or Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles (JASSMs). They have now decided to make these detailed missiles available as separate releases to be used for dioramas or to arm other bomber kits that were not so well-endowed. In this set of 20 JASSMs, you can assemble each of them with wings stowed (transport mode) or deployed (flight mode). I found a handful of listings for this newly-released set on eBay (all from Europe and Australia), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this set very quickly. Here is what I have learned about this state-of-the-art set: The Modelcollect website has a page for this kit that just shows the impressive box art. Unfortunately, there is not much information about the kit or subject. From other sources, I have found the following information about their set: The AGM-158 JASSM (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile) is a standoff air-launched cruise missile. It is a large, stealthy long-range weapon with a 1,000 pound (454 kg) armor piercing warhead. It completed testing and entered service with the U.S. Air Force in 2009. Before launch, the wing are folded to reduce size. Upon launch, the wings deploy automatically. Guidance is via inertial navigation with GPS updates. An imaging infrared seeker provides target recognition and terminal homing. The warhead is a WDU-42/B 450 kg (1000 lb) penetrator. The JASSM may be carried by a wide range of aircraft: the F-15E, F-16, F/A-18, F-35, B-1B, B-2 and B-52 are all intended to carry the weapon. · 1/72 scale model kit of the U.S.A.F. AGM-158 JASSM· Wings can be built either in retracted or extended position· Total 20 pieces included Scalemates.com shows that this is a new tooling from 2021. They provide a few links to aftermarket parts and a walkaround that might be useful in your build, but not much specific information about this set. With this release only being a few months old, I could find no reviews of this set. Fortunately, I found a review of a very similar set of Tomahawk missiles (Modelcollect #UA72228) that should attest to this set’s quality and remarkable detail. Dominik Weitzer did a very short In-Box Review of the AGM-109 MRASM set (#UA72228) on the German-language kitreviewsonline.de site. He provides about a half-dozen high-resolution photos of the sprues, PE fret, parts close-ups and the instruction sheet. He was not sure why this subject was chosen, but was very happy with the quality, saying: “The tails and wings are very thin and sharp-edged. Nothing to complain about”. This set is in a beautiful, sturdy box about 10.5” x 6.5” x 2”, with a great image of a missile in flight. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and still sealed with tape strips (these were never shrink wrapped from the factory), so it is factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains a set of twenty injection molded plastic JASSM kits, with five grey plastic parts each along with a small instruction sheet (no decals). It requires cement and paint to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally.
